2011 IFRS Symposium
Where in the World is IFRS? Symposium (Recording)
"The movement to international standards, whether it’s adoption of IFRS, harmonization of U.S. GAAP standards with IFRS principles, or rapid adoption of IFRS for SMEs, is going to change financial reporting as we know it. While many think “it won’t affect me,” the likelihood is any company can be acquired and thrust into a reporting environment based on IFRS” states Clarke Price, president and CEO of the Ohio Society of CPAs.
Today, over 100 countries have adopted the use of IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards). Japan and the United States are the last two large countries to officially adopt these standards. However, both are currently working on convergence with the International Standards.
Recommended by Thomas G. Calderon, Ph.D.,
Chair of the George W. Daverio School of Accountancy at The University of Akron
"IFRS is no longer just an esoteric topic covered as a footnote in college accounting courses. It is now the standard across most of the globe and it is accepted by the SEC for certain registrants. Increasingly, US GAAP is converging with IFRS and knowledge of IFRS is becoming an imperative for accounting students, professional accountants, and business executives. This symposium will offer invaluable insight into IFRS and how it will affect your world."
